Jasmine Heaney - Body Image

Self development and Body Image are key parts of adolescence, I believe this can be very difficult for today's teenagers when growing up in today's society with the media's influence. Here are a few of my focused sketchbook pages outlining the topics I've explored and samples I've developed so far.

Eleanor Cox- Childhood

My inspiration came from childhood memories, but more importantly the role teddy bears play throughout our lives, and the misconceptions that come with owning a teddy bear. I chose to look at this because of my own collection of teddy bears.

Georgina Patterson - Flora within my Generation

My project is inspired by flora within 4 generations of my family i have focused on 4 main flowers within my design processes; Iris, Gerbera daisy, Tulip, Sunflower. within looking into these i am then going to produce Photoshop designs and get the digitally printed.

Stephanie Hodgson - Once Upon A Time

My Idea for the Story teller project was initially to combine the themes time and beauty and the beast to create a book showing symbolism of time with in the story. I now have expanded my idea to be from my initial theme of story teller to Once upon a time to include 4 stories from my childhood e.g Tortoise and the Hare, Little Red Riding Hood, Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland.

In the gallery I would like to produce a book with the ideas and concepts stated above and a rocking chair mostly to emphasise my theme of Once upon a time and how I used to experience sitting down listening to my grandma read me a story in her rocking chair. I want to allow viewers to get a chance to sit down and experience that feeling.  I will add to the chair carving into it, sanding adding bits of yarn bombing but still allowing it to be comfortable to sit on.

Bethany Watson - Natural Beauty

I'm looking into animals and every which way I can inturprit them, I want to make a dress inspired by one in particular but I have yet to choose and experiment which.

With only 6 weeks left of the project to go and the exhibition poster designed, selected and almost ready to go out to the public; the designers are working hard towards their final pieces. You will expect to see a wide range of exhibition pieces including fashion, costume, interior and sculptural outcomes. Watch out for the larger than life teddy bear!

Charlotte Hall - Flora & Fauna

My Project was inspired by Flora and Fauna to start with, which then lead onto looking at Butterflies/Moths in particular. I chose this because I really like the vibrant colours and delicate detailed patterns. Here are a few of my experimental sketchbook pages, leading towards my final piece.

Lauren Collinson - The Swinging Sixties

My project 'The Swinging Sixties' has been inspired by the 1960's. I chose to use this as my theme as it is such an amazing and interesting decade in the way the outlook on fashion and textiles changed. There are lots of iconic looks; bold prints, vibrant colours, simple dress shapes as well as iconic people; Twiggy, Mary Quant, Biba, The Beatles. It all really interests me so I'm hoping that throughout my project I can research and take inspiration to work towards a successful final piece.
These are a few pictures of my sketchbook of some work I have done so far on the project. I have really been concentrating on creating my own surface pattern inspired by the 60's using Photoshop.I have experimented with different colour ways and different types of pattern looking into the designer Marimekko and their 60's prints. One of the most iconic people from the 60's is Twiggy and I am really interested in incorporating her into my work. I have done screen prints and cheat embroidery and hope to take these forward even more. As my project develops I want to create a final outcome of 2 fashion garments as a 'mini' collection. I will hopefully be making a shirt with my own Photoshop pattern and a simple dress incorporating the pattern and other printing/embroidery techniques in it too.

Laura Murray The Hunger Games Catching Fire

Laura Murray - The Hunger Games Catching fire

The inspiration behind my project is The Book Catching Fire from the Hunger Games series, I chose this as it is one of my Favourite book series with very detailed and inspirational descriptions of the clothes. I have created samples using techniques such as screen printing, puff binder and embroidery. I plan to create my interpretation of a costume from the book using textile techniques.

Adele Catchpole - Haunted

My theme for FMP is Haunted and I am developing ideas about how spirits are commonly perceived - long, white elongated figures, often from a past era or realm. Here I have looked at different laces and lace prints along with a pearl style necklace stencil with puff binder pulled through, these all resemble antique wedding dress traits and from these I have looked at Elie Saab's Spring couture pearl beaded collection with baroque influence. I am currently designing some baroque style patterns ready to use as stencils for my end piece.

Katy Longstaff - Remembrance

My project has been inspired by my childhood, key life events the most important being my Nanas death therefore my focus for this project is all based around her life and my relationship with her. I have experimented with fabric manipulation techniques for example: embroidery, mono print and weaving (paper and yarn based.) A few images from my sketchbook are shown below!
